Clothing - For men, the traditional outfit is white Mundu and Neriathu, which is a plain white dhoti that is embroidered with golden silk lining. For women, the traditional attire is a cream-colored sari with a golden border.

Fairs and Festivals The major event of Alleppey is the boat festival held every year. Nehru Trophy Boat Race is one of the most important boat races in Kerala. It is an annual event conducted on the second Saturday of August every year, in the afternoon.

The Champakulam Moolam boat race has a tradition of centuries.
